Residences at the Ritz-Carlton Toronto

Location: 183 Wellington St W, Toronto

Architect: John Pederson Fox, Page and Steele

Designed by John Pederson Fox, this prestigious 53-storey building incorporates a condominium sky-lobby above the hotel section of the building.

KJA was involved in all aspects of the vertical transportation, from the conceptual design and development, traffic simulations, customized elevator layout options, preparation of technical specifications, detailed contract arrangements, drawing reviews, installation supervision and final commissioning.

Particular attention was devoted to ride quality with noise and vibration levels minimized to reflect the luxurious standards of the condominium and hotel by the Ritz-Carlton. At the time it was turned over, the elevators were the best in ride quality in Canada.


The Bow

Location: 500 Centre St S, Calgary

Architect: Zeidler Partnership Architects, Foster + Partners

The design team brought together Zeidler and Foster and Partners and Canadian engineers in a cohesive group. This design uses high-speed express shuttles to serve from the ground level to the various sky lobby levels including the sky garden lobby.

The combination of high-speed express and low-speed local elevator groups leads to economies in the total vertical transportation plant.

KJA was involved in the design development phase, including simulations, custom elevator layouts, specifications, contract arrangements, drawing reviews and site inspections.

At the completion of the project, The Bow stood as the tallest building in Calgary and had the shortest average trips for a building of it’s size.


Ten York

Location: 10 York Street, Toronto

Architect: Wallman Architects

Developed by Tridel, this 69-storey building design plus mechanical penthouse includes low-rise and high-rise passenger elevators, parking elevators and freight elevators.

KJA was involved in the design development phase, traffic simulations, custom elevator layouts, specifications, contract arrangements, drawing reviews, project supervision and final commissioning.

Wallman Architects designed the building with Del Condominium taking over condominium management duties.


2 Queen West

Location: 2 Queen St W, Toronto

Architect: Zeidler Partnership Architects

Redevelopment of a heritage building owned by Cadillac Fairview alongside Zeidler Partnership Architects.

The project included the installation of two machine-room-less passenger elevators and one machine-room-less service elevator.

KJA was involved in the design development phase, including simulations, custom elevator layouts, specifications, contract arrangements, drawing reviews, site inspections and commissioning.


Aura at College Park

Location: 386 Yonge St, Toronto

Architect: Graziani + Corazza

On its completion, Aura is and stays as the tallest and largest residential building in Canada


1908 Otis-Fensom Restoration

Location: 10 Adelaide St E, Toronto

Site: Birkbeck Building – Ontario Heritage Trust

Detailed and specialized work from KJA allowed the restoration of a heritage machine that will continue to survive into the future as a magnificent reminder of what elevators used to be.
